Pitch Perfect

Nike Sportswear x The FADER

Surrounding the Men's World Cup in South Africa, Nike Sportswear and The FADER created Pitch Perfect, a celebration of the music and culture of South Africa.

In the first part of the content series, six global mixtapes were released on Nike and The FADER. Each digital mixtape was accompanied by original artwork produced exclusively by British artist Siggi Eggertson.

In addition to the mixtapes, Nike Sportswear and The FADER released a 10-episode mini-documentary series that spanned an entire month in South Africa, during the Men's World Cup. Episodes in the series included interviews and tours of the region led by and with local musicians including BLK JKS and local athletes Kaiser Chiefs; documented road trips through Rustenberg, Durban, Soweto and Johannesburg; footage of celebrations during the football games; and conversations with natives from each location, showcasing each city through the eyes of locals.

Featured in the documentaries was a live music event held at Nike's Football Training Center in Soweto on Youth Day. The event was streamed live online with peformances by Tumi and the Volume, Spoek Mathambo and Seun Kuti & Egypt 80. The event included creative workshops, educational speakers, and the aforementioned concert.

I worked on the concept and oversaw production of all elements of the project including all mixtapes and live event at FTC Soweto.
